23 Affordable Mother’s Day ideas based on your mum’s love language

During tough times, creativity and resourcefulness are essential, just like our mums taught us. To help you plan the perfect surprise, we’ve compiled a list of affordable things to do on Mother’s Day based on the five love languages.

Understanding your mum’s preferred love language can help you choose the perfect Mother’s Day gift. If she appreciates material gifts, go for flowers or pastries. Or if she prefers spending quality time with the family, plan an activity everyone can enjoy together.

Choose one or two ideas from this list or combine them to create a series of treats for all the special mothers in your life!

Or combine this idea with the gift of physical touch; how about gifting her a cosy blanket she can wrap herself up in or a comfortable pair of socks that she can snuggle her feet into?

How mums can get more done with Airtasker

With all the endless tasks mums accomplish every day, one day isn’t simply enough to honour and celebrate them.

How mums can get more done with Airtasker

Mothers are natural multitaskers. They do so much in a day, from keeping the house in tip-top shape to preparing delicious meals for the family and sometimes even helping the kids with their school work.

All these can get overwhelming, even for a supermum. But, it’s worth reminding mothers that they don’t always have to do it all themselves, and that’s perfectly okay.

If you’re a mum, this is your sign to take a breather and get a Tasker to lighten your load! Here’s how you can get more done around the house with the help of Airtasker.

Consult a professional home organiser

woman organising kids toys

For many mums, a big chunk of their day-to-day involves keeping the house neat and tidy. This can be particularly taxing, especially for a house full of children.

This time, let your hair down! A professional home organiser can ensure that your home is free of clutter and your belongings are where they need to be. This way, you’re not scrambling all over the house, constantly looking for the TV remote or your pet’s favourite toy.

Whether it be your pantry, the kids’ wardrobe, or your husband’s power tools, they can do the organising for you. They can also help you sort out which clothes and shoes you’d like to keep or donate to charity.

Get help in the kitchen

A mum’s cooking is inarguably the best. But there are days when it might be a good idea to relinquish control of the kitchen.

If you don’t have the energy at all to cook for the day, have food delivered instead! Order takeaway from everyone’s favourite restaurant or try a new cuisine for a nice treat.

You can also get someone to plan and prep your meals for an entire week. This way, you won’t need to worry about not having a home-cooked lunch or dinner for the family.

Have groceries and essentials delivered

No time for groceries this week? Or maybe you need to do a last-minute restock on some kitchen or bathroom essentials. Whatever the case may be, booking a grocery delivery service is all it takes!

woman receiving grocery delivery

List down everything you need, have someone do the shopping for you, and wait for your items to arrive at your doorstep! Get more housework done whilst waiting, or simply use the free time to relax.

Find a babysitter for the night

Why don’t you blow off some steam and enjoy a night out with your girlfriends, or perhaps a date night with the mister? Leave the kids under the care of a trusted babysitter who can tuck them in while you’re out.

Going for a quick weekend getaway and need someone to look after your pets? There are also plenty of pet sitters who are more than happy to meet your fur babies!

Leave the laundry to the pros

mum doing laundry with her kids

Doing laundry can be such a daunting task, especially if there’s a big pile of dirty clothes dragging you down. But don’t stress!

Whether you need a quick wash, dry, and fold or several garments dry-cleaned, you can always find someone to take your laundry off your hands.

Get a tutor for the kids

Of course, keeping up with the kids’ school work is just as important as any chore. And if you need an extra hand, don’t hesitate to reach out to experienced tutors that specialise in various subjects.

Hire a professional cleaner

mum cleaning home

Lastly, there’s cleaning. Just like doing laundry, it can be a tedious job, especially if you haven’t had a lot of time to do some deep cleaning.

And that’s what professional cleaners are here for! From your kitchen appliances and living room couch to your bedroom carpet and bathroom floors, they can make sure that every nook and cranny of your home is spotless. The best part? You don’t even have to lift a finger.

With all the endless tasks mums accomplish every day, one day isn’t simply enough to honour and celebrate them.

And here at Airtasker, we do whatever we can to help mothers fulfil their superhero roles so they can get more done, done, done, and also take some time for themselves.

Happy Mother’s Day, and thank you to all mums, grandmothers, and mother figures all over the world!

Surprise mum this Mother’s Day

Need help pulling off the perfect Mother's Day surprise? Get ready to be inspired!

Surprise mum this Mother’s Day

From chefs to taxi drivers, nurses to financial advisors, mums wear many different hats. However, the most important one is what they wear 24/7 – being a mother to the whole family.

This Mother’s Day, celebrate the amazing job mums do every day by organising something extra special. Along with some thoughtful gifts, a well-planned surprise might just do the trick!

Spend some quality time with mum and give her a day to remember by bringing the fun to her. Here are a few Mother’s Day surprise ideas that she won’t ever forget:

Get mum all glammed up

Makeup artist at the work with client

It may have been a while since your mum has gotten all dolled up for the day. With the help of a professional hair and make-up artist, treat her to a glam session to make her look and feel like the superstar she truly is!

Take new family portraits

And since mum is already in full glam, why not set up an impromptu photo shoot from home? If you have a knack for photography, now is the time to be her personal photographer!

You can also book a portrait photographer to capture mum’s timeless beauty. Let everyone join for new family portraits, too! She’ll definitely want to remember this moment forever.

Treat her to a VIP meal

Serving breakfast in bed is a classic Mother’s Day move. Consider taking it a step further (and giving her a break from the kitchen) by hiring a private chef for the day!

Mother's day breakfast in bed

They can prepare a smorgasbord of delicious dishes and even whip up your mum’s favourite home-cooked meal. You can also spoil her with some amazing desserts made by your local pastry chef or have freshly baked cookies delivered from her favourite bakery.

Shower her with flowers

This one’s an oldie but a goodie, but you can never go wrong with a gorgeous Mother’s Day bouquet. You can handpick the flowers yourself or have your florist create an elaborate flower arrangement fitting for a queen!

You can also hire someone to deliver flowers to your mum’s doorstep if you don’t have enough time to pick them up. Just make sure to secure your flowers in advance – flower shops tend to get extremely busy on Mother’s Day.

Plan a weekend getaway for her and her friends

Put your planner hat on and surprise Mum with a quick getaway with her girlfriends! Maybe a snazzy hotel staycation? How about a nice trip to the beach? Whatever it may be, the goal is for her to have a fun-filled Mother’s Day weekend.

Woman packing suitcase at home

Meanwhile, you can offload some chores from Mum at home whilst she takes her well-deserved break. Don’t even let her worry about the kids (or pets!) – you can always hire a sitter if you need an extra hand.

Organise a spa day

After a long week of doing household chores or being hunched over her work desk, your mum will want nothing more but to relax and unwind.

Book her a full day of spa treatments to make her feel rejuvenated on Mother’s Day. From premium facials and mani-pedis to whole-body massages, she’s bound to feel as good as new!

Bond over her favourite hobbies

Mother and daughter dancing in the living room

It’s the smallest details that count. Let mum know you’ve been paying attention to her hobbies by bonding over them on Mother’s Day.

Whether it be taking a painting lesson or grooving in a Zumba class, she’ll surely appreciate a day of just doing everything she loves. Who knows? You might discover a new hobby for yourself, too!

Host a Mother’s Day gathering

Pull out all the stops this Mother’s Day and host a party to honour your amazing mum! An event planner can help you sort out all the nitty-gritty details, whether you’re looking to have an intimate gathering or a large get-together.

Get the house organised

Last but definitely not least! A clean and well-organised home is just one of the many things that can spark joy for mothers. But there are days when it’s just impossible to keep things spic-and-span.

decluttering clothes

Let an expert home organiser take the reigns instead of having Mum do all the decluttering. You can also get your home professionally cleaned so she won’t have to do it herself.

Mother’s Day is all about celebrating your mum and everything she does for the family.

Whether you plan on spoiling mum with her favourite comfort food or getting a custom family portrait, our Taskers can help you pull off the perfect surprise so you can focus on making memories that will last for a lifetime.
