Painting Ideas To Refresh Your Apartment

It’s summer, it’s a new year and there’s no time like the present to breathe life back into your apartment. With a fresh lick of paint on the walls, new plants and cute pillow or two your home will look like something out of a home magazine.

Painting your apartment will make the biggest difference to your home, however I realise that many of you are renters (myself included) so as well as painting ideas for your home here’s some inspiration to add a crisp new-look to your place.

Below are some painting ideas to refresh your apartment

1. 2015 Painting Trends

Every year there are new interior design trends but that doesn’t mean you need to break the bank and buy new furniture. The key is to not only pick something that you like but also assess what will work with the space and your furniture.

2. Bold and Beautiful

You will be channeling Miami in the 80’s with colours such as flamingo pink, sunshine yellow and tropical aqua. There’s no way you won’t smile in the morning with this colour explosion as a instant mood lifter.

3. Nordic

This has been around for a little while but you can detoxify your home with bone white, wood and neutral grey soft tones. The only mistake here is not to add warmth and I don’t mean adding red or dark colours. By using different textures such as fur rugs, knitted or cotton pillows and a wooden coffee table you will make your place feel fresh but not cold.

4. Go Green

Planter boxes and terrariums are hottest room accessories right now but this year it will go to a whole new level. You’ll see people bring the outside in with indoor plants everywhere and even homage to 1960’s Hawaii with palm tree prints on lampshades and pillows.

5. Pastels

Sorbet colours such as baby blue, pink and yellow bring softness to a room but also some lovely spots of colour. It might not be a colour you paint and entire room but as patterned chevron it looks great. It also goes well with the Nordic design if you wanted to add a pop of colour.

6. Non-painting wall ideas

If you rent or just want to change things up in the short term, I’ve come across a few ideas that won’t see you loose your bond money.

7. Paint furniture

You don’t own the walls but you own the furniture so maybe it’s time to spice up the chairs by painting them a different colour or painting larger items such as the wardrobe and dining table.

8. Focal wall

Create a focus wall with large artwork, picture frames or wall stickers. You could also use a bookcase to paint the inside of and fill with little eye-catching treasures.

9. Removable wallpaper

Yes, you heard right and it does exist. With loads of designs you can go all out in your place and it doesn’t have to be on the walls, think about that plain chest of drawers too.
